kbps vs kB/s - Internet Service Providers always quote speeds in kilobits per second (kbps). E.g. Entry-level ADSL Broadband is 384kbps and is sufficient for most Internet activities. When you download something, your browser displays the download speed in kilobytes per second (kB/s). This is because there are 8 bits in 1 byte. A 384kbps connection therefore, gives a download speed of 48kB/s.

How do our speeds and prices compare to ADSL Broadband? - Entry level ADSL offers a download speed of 384kbps at a cost of R152pm for ADSL line rental + R192pm for phone line rental (even if you don't use it) + data bundle from your service provider. The fastest speed ADSL can offer is 4096kbps. It has a similar price structure to entry-level ADSL, except that the line rental is R413pm.

Max. Download Speed - This is dependant on how busy the network is. It is only available to customers who connect to the Kei Mor ISP network via an installed home / business connection. It is not available if you connect directly from a Laptop, iPad, iPhone etc., to a Kei Mor ISP Antenna several houses away - I have stopped signing up new customers with connections like that because built-in WiFi antennas perform poorly when communicating through obstacles and over long distances, meaning that data has to be resent many times over, which slows the network down.

Skype - We try to priorities Skype calls, but cannot guarantee the quality of the conversation, especially with video calls. This is down to a number of factors which include the upload speed that Telkom limits us to, the upload and download speed of the package you have chosen, the time of day and similar factors affecting the person you are calling.
